Hard Call

Hard Call is a first-person tactical shooter that rewards non-lethal enemy engagement.

This game was submitted to the Weekly Jam 107 under the theme Don't touch it. The player must apprehend suspects while resisting the urge to just pull the trigger.

How To Win

The objective of the game is to avoid shooting suspects that have taken one or many hostages. The player must do whatever possible to escort the hostages to safety - while ensuring maximum points by performing arrests rather than eliminations.

TL;DR: Get the Hostages (Pink colored) to the Extraction Zone (Green rectangle)

The white screen at the end of the map is your score, this will tell you how many suspects were correctly apprehended VS the total suspects in the map.

Gameplay Tips

• When you see a suspect, instead of shooting him right away, perform a Signal Contact to see if he surrenders.
• If you perform a signal contact maneuver and the suspect does not react, try shooting him and performing the move again. Injured suspects are more likely to surrender.
• If the enemy has surrendered, to get points for non-lethal contact, you must handcuff the suspect using the Interact button.
• When opening doors, look at the position of the door hinge. This will inform you which way the door will open.
• If you cannot see, hit the Equip Torch button.
• The player can only be shot so many times before death, carefully navigate around corners to prevent this.

Cut Features

This game was developed in 3 days, so I had to cut a lot of corners to get it out the door. I will be exploring options for including the following in the future releases.

• Time Attack Mode: Clear all enemies quickly
• Split-Screen Coop: Play together on the same screen
• Enhanced Enemy AI: Allow AI to move position and detect noises other than signal contacts and gunfire.
• Character Animation: Animate the enemies movement.
• Primary / Secondary Weapons: Allow the player to switch from primary to secondary vice-versa.
• More Maps: This game needs more maps.
• Environment Art: Visual polish and detailing.
• Friendly AI: Have one or two companion AI to stack up on doors and clear rooms.

Known Bugs

• When aiming toward the ground, sometimes the player can shoot his/herself.
• Endless Mode spawn positions in night maps may need adjustment.
